Women’s College Library is one of the oldest college libraries in Kerala(estd.in 1897), having a big collection of books and periodicals. Library is nourished with more than 93500 books which are hosted in the Central Library and Department Libraries. The Central Library is subscribing 13 newspapers and 50 general periodicals. Library service is fully automated with a window based library software. The software has housekeeping facilities like issue return cataloguing, reservation and Information Retrieval Facility (OPAC for users). Library subscribes NLIST from INFLIBNET, which enables the clientele to access of e-books and e-journals free of cost. Women’s College Library is one of the members of Thiruvananthapuram cluster of Arts and Science Colleges, which enables the search facility of books through an online catalogue among the participating colleges .
The Central Library is functioning in a newly constructed four storied building situated at the centre of the campus.All the floors have Centralized Networking and UPS facility. Book search can be done from any floor through OPAC. Internet Access is also provided to all floors in addition to Cyber Centre at the Third Floor. Lift facility is provided to users for the easy access of documents. The Ground Floor houses the general reading section, periodicals section, automated issue, return counter and reference section. The First Floor has been kept apart as a stack area for general books. A reprographic section is also housed on the first floor. The mlayalam section is housed in the Second Floor. The Third Floor is set apart for Research Section and Cyber Centre with E Jounals and Ebooks facility. The library and information service support the undergraduate, postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members. The library provides a comfortable, efficient and friendly support to all members of the college, as well as guests and researchers. The library kept open from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on all working days.
Government Women’s College Library is also regularly conducting Library Extension Activities like conducting Seminars on relevant topics, observing Library Week, Orientation programmes to freshmen and all such activities other than technical activities.
